We are very interested in Genome MuSiC for identifying mutational significance in cancer genomes. As described in Genome Research paper, the MuSiC software tools, source code, and reference data are accessible through http://gmt.genome.wustl.edu, and are supported on Ubuntu Linux 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). Installation on all Debian-based systems will initiate automatic updates from software server.

Does it mean that the program is only available on Ubuntu or Debian systems?

Can it be installed on RedHat RHEL4?

Thanks a lot! Huaitian

A similar question with answer: Music Source Code And I thought there was recently an identical question, but cannot find it. We should close this as a duplicate if it turns up...

I just posted installation steps in a tutorial: Installation of the MuSiC suite on unsupported linux distributions. RHEL4 was not tested, but you can follow the steps for RHEL6. You might have to figure out a different way to access the EPEL repositories.

As I understand it, the large number of dependencies means that it's only being packaged for Ubuntu at the moment. The devs are working on better cross-platform compatibility, but it's going to take some time.

Probably the easiest way for you to get it up and running at the moment is to use Ubuntu in a virtual machine.
