Database For Museums' Specimens

Hello, I would like you to suggest me a web database listing specimens conserved in different museums for different species.

NB: I asked myself if this question was pertinent here, I concluded that it is; however, if you disagree, please feel free to close it.

GBIF http://data.gbif.org is a large aggregation of numerous museum databases, you can search by different criteria (e.g., taxon name, geography), and there is an API. The museums that contribute to GBIF are listed here: http://data.gbif.org/datasets/

Index Herbariorum: A Global Directory of Public Herbaria and Associated Staff

It's not direct, but it should lead you to a lot of specimens. That Biorepository.org link looks promising too.
