Hi,

My name is Prasanna. I have completed B. tech Bioinformatics. I am working in the area of Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Big data for more than 6 years. Currently, I am working for a health care company that specializes in HL7 integration, medical coding and billing, analytics. I have good experience in accessing EMR applications such as Mirth Connect, OpenMDHT. I have good knowledge in UMLS, RxNORM, SNOMED-CT, ICD9/10, CPT, HCPCS, LOINC and NDC. I am planning to apply for jobs in labs, research organizations and hospitals in U.S. Can anyone please guide me what are the openings for clinical specialists with bioinformatics background. I am trying my level best to join some good labs. But still I feel there are certains areas which I need to update myself before applying for jobs. Also what is the future for clinical informaticians in hospitals? What is the future for Translational Bioinformatics, Clinical Bioinformatics. Please share your valuable insights on this.

I think clinical informatics and electronic records management is an entire subfield on its own that has very little overlap with the topics discussed on this site. I for one haven't even heard of most of the acronyms that you mention: CPT, NDC, LIONC etc
