Dear all,

I have read some posts regarding lab software's, so I thought that maybe ours could be of interest.

We that have developed the software, StrainControl Laboratory Manager, all work in the field of science.

Last year StrainControl was released to the research community.

StrainControl is a lab software that allows to you to store everything in the lab in one place.

Currently there are about 700 labs that are using StrainControl and they are all satisfied.

Some key functions:

  1. Handle strains, cell-lines, oligos, plasmids, chemicals and inventories.
  2. Link plasmid data to strains or cell-lines.
  3. Ability to rename any field and text to your own needs.
  4. Customize which data columns should be visible.
  5. User management allowing you to create read, write, administrator accounts etc.
  6. Read-access from cloud drive (dropbox etc) and network support.
  7. Create reports (over 20 formats)

What I'm interested in is if any other research fields (beside basic research labs) can make any use of the software since any field can be renamed to fit a different research field.

We would be very happy if you could give it a try and comment how the software works for you.

Thank you in advance,
Chris Ericsson, PhD

A few comments:

  1. You should make it clear that it is for windows only - it took me a while to figure that out.
  2. The way your images roll over yet when clicked will download the program feels misleading. Typically when a user clicks a link that is not clearly marked as download they expect to be taken to a different page that explains the feature of the software.
  3. Too many of your gallery images have "Demo name" and "Keyword" for keywords etc. I would recommend realistic data to be put there that connects with customers.

Dear Dr. Ericsson,

My name is Christian Zevallos, and I am a research assistant in the Dr. Villagra Laboratory in the Department of Biochemistry at The George Washington University. The people in my lab is very interested in using StrainControl, but unfortunately, we were not able to install it (as a superuser rights or without rights), so may I ask you, if there is something else we can do to install it. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Christian Zevallos

Hi. Our laboratory has recently purchased the software. However we are not able to receive any help from the support team at Strain Control. It is disappointing to know that we cannot italicize the font in the stain details and also special characters such as 'delta' and 'alpha' are not recognised in the software. Kindly provide help.

Just fyi, the OP did not log in for > 4 years, it is therefore relatively unlikely you will get a response from them here.
