Hi everyone!

I'm having troubles installing extended version of Lositan (for truckload of data). I have all the requirements fulfilled - 64 bit system, 8 GB RAM but when I try to install it only Java logo appears and nothing else happens. Have no problem whatsoever installing regular version of Lositan, it works perfectly but can't handle the larger amount of data I need to analyse.

I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks,
Irina

G'day Irina, did you ever get lositan working? I have just come across the same issue. If you figured it out your help would be very much appreciated. Cheers, Adam

Hi there, I'm having the same problem trying to launch the program.. the java logo appears and it looks like it's opening but then the logo disappears and nothing else happens. I'm guessing this is a java problem but I can't seem to figure it out. Did you have any luck? Any advice would be most appreciated!

Hi Adam,

I'm not entirely sure what was the problem and how it got fixed, multiple re-installations and computer restarts, Java updates didn't help, I abandoned my attempts for a couple of days and it suddenly started working. Sometimes it's a formatting problem - when I download my files from HPC and then open genepop files in Windows the genotype format changes from 0102 to 102. Another problem is that all the loci must be in a column (1 loci per row) before the pop sign, if they are in 1 row (1 column per loci like in Structure files) Lositan won't work with this file.

Hope that helps,
Irina

It is very simply to fix this problem by following instructions from next web page:

https://www.blackmoreops.com/2017/06/08/fix-java-error-unsigned-application-requesting-unrestricted-access-to-system/

In Windows go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\lib\security\java.security

Simply edit the file "java.security" by Notepad++ and added a hash # in front of the line "jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms" as next:

#jdk.jar.disabledAlgorithms=MD2, MD5, RSA keySize < 1024
