How To Locate Centromeric Region In Chromosomal Sequences?

Hi all. I did not find any database containing data about positions of centromeres even in whole sequenced and annotated species (like oryza sativa, vitis viniferas, brachypodium and so on), so I would like to ask if there is any way how to locate those regions?

Thanks.

some very similar questions have been asked before, look here: http://biostar.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/centromere

Please see my reply to one of the similar questions Michael indicates. While not talking about plants, that question and its replies will help you.

Thank you. Unfortunatelly I am interested only in plants, so it seems to be quite tough issue:)

The issues are the same whether it is a chimpanzee or grape centromere. Gene density changes (lower), SNP density changes, repeat content increases, low-complexity regions are more often noted. At the same time, precise coordinates of a centromere will be nearly impossible to obtain.
