Hello:

I am processing the CMAP data. And it includes 5 cell-line experiment. What confused me is the relationship between ssMCF7 and MCF7.

I have known the meaning of ssMCF7 and MCF7.

ssMCF7: MCF7 cells cultured in phenol red free DMEM supplemented with 5% charcoal/ dextran stripped fetal bovine serum, 1% penicillin-streptomycin-glutamine and 3.3 mg/ml bovine serum albumin immediately before and during treatments.

MCF7: Human breast epithelial adenocarcinoma cell line derived from pleural effusion (ATCC# HTB-22). MCF7 cells are cultured in DMEM supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum and 1% penicillin-streptomycin-glutamine.

The difference between them are the different DMEM and doses. But they are somewhat same.

Could anyone tell me what the relation between them? And why does CMAP do experiment on MCF7 and ssMCF7? For the reason for contrast or what?
