Dear All,

I am neophyte in this bioinformatics field. I have recently gone through this research article link which is provided below.

http://www.apocpcontrol.org/paper_file/issue_abs/Volume16_No6/2561-2567%2012.10%20Yan%20Wang.pdf

In the above link,

in Affymetrix microarray data under Materials & Methods - the author has used GSE15471 data deposited in GEO database and analysed the data. If you go thorough the GSE15471 in GEO data base. you could find platform as GPL570, but in this paper, he has written as GPL6244.

Question 1: Why the author has used different platform which is not given in this study? Did he mistakenly written in?

Question 2: and in Data Preprocessing heading  under materials & Methods - He has used GSE14905 raw data CEL files, which is not related to this study.

Kindly Please look into it and provide me your answer.

You can send an email for authors to ask these questions. It is more reliable.

These are likely mistakes, which were not spotted due to lax (or absence of) review. Another possibility is this is not the final version and was uploaded by mistake - indication of this are the red comments on the 'references" section.

Anyway, enough red flags to keep away from it. The authors do not even compare their results with the results from the paper they got the data from.
