I have searched for SINE elements in maize with RepeatMasker. It has found plenty of LTR elements, but none of SINE element. Is it possible? Google gives no clear answer, but suggest, that there should be some.

Thank you very much.

You could look at this article "Exceptional Diversity, Non-Random Distribution, and Rapid Evolution of Retroelements in the B73 Maize Genome" http://www.plosgenetics.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pgen.1000732

I suggest that you carefully read the papers by SanMiguel and Bennetzen as well as look at the TIGR Maize Database.
