Supercomputing Center of Chinese Academy of Sciences (SCCAS) is seeking to recruit an associate professor within the area of cancer genomics and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The place of work is at the SCCAS, Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. Candidates with background in cancer genomics, clinical medicine, NGS and other related areas of biology or medicine are encouraged to apply.

Job description

SCCAS is the general center in the supercomputing environment of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Research and Development (R&D) service base of Beijing Municipal Capital Science and Technology Platform, and also nominated as the Operation and Management Center of China National Grid (CNGrid) and the north main node of CNGrid by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. The center focuses on operating and maintaining super-computers, exploiting and supporting massively parallel computing, developing visualization software and other related services. Our mission is to drive the scientific innovations and industrial multiplications by applying leading-edge supercomputing technologies.

SCCAS is going to build a high-performance Precision Medicine Workstation (PMW) based on the high-performance computing environment and a NGS wet laboratory. PMW will be used to do precision medicine NGS big data analysis, provides the robust, fast, completely precision medicine integrated solution and enables clinical labs to go from sequencing data to actionable, informed diagnosis quickly and seamlessly.

The candidate will be leading a fully funded project aiming at the human normal sample & solid tumor sample genome/human gut metagenome sequencing, the clinical interpretation of rare germline and somatic mutations and the risk prediction of the cancers for normal samples.

Requirements

PhD/MD in the fields of cancer genomics, biology, clinical medicine, bioinformatics or a related discipline. Candidates will have expertise that includes NGS, clinical medicine, relevant research experience in operating next-generation sequencer (illumina) in NGS wet laboratory, excellent verbal and written communication skills, a record of peer-reviewed publications, and a strong interest in innovative and interdisciplinary research.
