We are a young, dynamic group based at Yale School of Medicine and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where we focus on the genetics and genomics of immunological and neurological disease. We are looking for exceptional individuals to lead several efforts in our group. Beyond independence, self-motivation and a commitment to excellence we particularly value imagination and a data-centered approach to scientific problems. Strong analytical skills and critical thinking are paramount to our work, so we seek individuals with demonstrated quantitative and computational skills, ideally in statistical genetics, biostatistics or computational biology. Abilities in programming, project management, technical writing and presentation skills are also very desirable. Our current efforts include the following projects:

  1. Identify the shared and distinct pathogenesis of immune-mediated diseases. You will be responsible for developing and applying methods to compare genetic associations to identify shared and distinct pathegenic mechanisms across immune-mediated diseases, building on a collection of 150,000 genotyped individuals. Your efforts will identify mechanisms underlying disease, generate mechanistic hypotheses to test in our systems immunology laboratory and ultimately help re-purpose therapies across disease groups. (Reference code: CC-2015pd01)
  2. Uncover how changes to gene regulatory programs cause disease. We seek to understand how disease risk variants alter the dynamics of gene regulation to induce disease risk across the population. We use multiple high-throughput genomic and immunological assays (RNAseq, GROseq, ChIPseq, DNaseIseq, CyTOF) to carefully dissect these subtle changes. Your efforts will advance the detection and treatment of serious immunological disorders (Reference code: CC-2015pd02).
  3. Understand the genetic and epidemiological overlap between epilepsy and schizophrenia. We are coupling massive GWAS and nation-wide hospital register data to find the genetic underpinnings of the common primary epilepsies and how this predisposes to mental illness later in life. Your efforts will identify patients at risk of developing both diseases and eventually designing strategies to address the care required by these individuals (Reference code: CC-2015pd03).
