Open positions Ophoff lab (UCLA)
The Ophoff lab is seeking highly motivated postdocs with a background in computational biology, genomics, bioinformatics, statistics or computer science (accompanied by a relevant publication record) to join the team of computational and experimental scientists at the Center for Neurobehavioral Genetics at UCLA. Familiarity with high-throughput genomic data analysis and some programming is essential. A background in statistical genomics is beneficial.
Dr. Roel Ophoff's laboratory focuses on the molecular basis of complex traits, in particular neuropsychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Research includes study of genetic variation at the DNA level and study of gene expression profiles and epigenetic variation that may be involved in disease susceptibility. Listed are some ongoing projects in the lab:
(i) The study of regulatory variants in fibroblasts and blood via RNAseq and ATACseq from patients with bipolar disorder compared to controls.
(ii) The study of the genetic architecture of lipids and metabolites measured both in blood and cerebrospinal fluid in healthy individuals.
(iii) The study of the relation between genetic burden and symptoms from psychotic and mood spectrum disorders across different stages of development into adulthood in an extensively phenotyped cohort of over 9,000 youth.
(iv) The study of genetic variation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and its impact on transcriptome in the etiology of the disease.
Please send a description of your research interests and a current CV.
