The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) located in San Diego, California is seeking 2 PhD Scientists in the Bioinformatics group. Under the umbrella of the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), GNF has the support of a broad collaboration with the entire Novartis research organization, while maintaining the independence to initiate and drive independent research programs. This relationship has allowed GNF to develop a unique environment and accompanying technological infrastructure not found in any university or commercial pharmaceutical setting.
We are seeking experts in integrative genomics to join our team at GNF to perform Bioinformatics analysis of complex diseases. Successful candidates will conduct in depth analyses of high dimensional mouse and human population based data including multiple molecular and phenotypic measures. This analysis will be an integral part of defining new targets for GNF's >500 high-tech and high throughput scientists. Your direct contributions will help set the path on which GNF will address today's patients with cutting edge science and technology. The positions will encompass the multiple therapeutic areas under investigation at GNF including but not limited to metabolic diseases, cancer and immunology.
Minimum requirements
The candidates must have a PhD in statistics, bioinformatics or related disciplines, 2-7 years work experience in an industrial or academic setting, have published track record in bioinformatics, systems biology, sequence analyses or genetics, combined with excellent inter-disciplinary communication skills. A demonstrated history of success in analysis of large complex datasets in both standardized and innovative ways is critical to success in this role. Our preferred candidates will demonstrate experience as an inquisitive self-starter with an abiding and deep interest in biological systems.
