Hi everyone,

I'm searching a software to plot karyotype representation of the human genome. I want to plot specific region (ex: 17q13) with gene name and maybe position.

Thanks

A few months ago I created a small utility for drawing genome maps in the style we used in figure 1 of our family quartet genome paper in 2010. Depending on what you're trying to achieve, this might be of use. If this is almost what you need but not exactly, I'll be glad to tweak it to make it more versatile - let me know.

The paper: http://www.sciencemag.org/content/328/5978/636.abstract

The figures page: http://www.sciencemag.org/content/328/5978/636.figures-only

Use the UCSC genome browser, select your region and save it as postscript. You can later edit it with inkscape.
