Penn State World Campus is now accepting applications for spring 2016. The 11-credit online graduate certificate program provides a highly relevant and dynamic curriculum that focuses on the applied nature and practical aspects of bioinformatics. Application materials for spring 2016 must be received by January 1, 2016.

Spring courses include:

Applied Bioinformatics (BMMB 852), provides a foundation for students with biology backgrounds in the computational analysis and interpretation of biological data.

Genomics (BMMB 551), covers the structure and function of genomes including use of some current web-based tools and resources for studies and research in genomics.

Future courses include: Foundations in Data Driven Life Sciences (BMMB 554) and Statistical Analysis of Genomics Data (STAT 555).

You should be able to complete the Applied Bioinformatics online graduate certificate program in about one year. These courses are structured for asynchronous learning, giving you the flexibility to complete assignments at your own pace.

For admission to the Graduate Certificate in Applied Bioinformatics program, the online certificate application, the nonrefundable application fee, and English proficiency requirement are all that is required. You do not have to provide transcripts, a cover letter, letters of recommendation, GMAT/GRE test scores, nor any other documentation with your application. All international applicants must take and submit scores for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with some exceptions.

Visit our website to learn more about the program and how you can apply. Please email any curriculum-related questions to Dr. Istvan Albert at bioinformatics@psu.edu. General questions should be directed to our admissions team by calling 800-252-3592.
