Uninstall samtools 1.1 version

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to uninstall 'samtools' version 1.1 and install 'samtools' version 0.1.19 in ubuntu.

I tried apt-get remove, it removes it, but if I type samtools in the command line its still there.

I tried to install v 0.1.19 in the hope that it will overwrite the other version but it doesn't work. Inside the folder I do make and then export PATH=$PATH:/my directory/. I dont get any errors so I'm supposing that im not doing anything wrong.

How can I completely remove samtools so I can install the version I want? Any help would be very appreciated.

Have you tried to move samtools executable to your /bin/ folder?

Try running which samtools to see where your samtools binary is located and you can remove it from there.
