The University of Pennsylvania Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics Bioinformatics Group is offering a three year postdoctoral position, with the possibility to extend. Will work as part of a team that performs a broad range of bioinformatics analyses, primarily with high throughput data. Will be developing pipelines for RNA-Seq analysis and performing statistical and computational analysis of high throughput biological data. Will work on methods development and benchmarking, data management and data integration. A wide range of biological domains will be involved, however there will be some emphasis on circadian biology and on COX inhibitors and their cardiovascular side-effects. This position will involve writing papers, including first author papers, giving talks at regular meetings and presenting at data clubs, journal clubs and lab meetings. This position is aimed at the young and ambitious bioinformatician with aspirations of a bioinformatics career at the faculty level.

Candidate must have PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Bio-Engineering, Physics or a similar field to the above. Candidate must be proficient in programming in at least one scripting language. Experience with statistical analysis a must. Must be proficient in R. Experience with UNIX systems a must. Experience with RNA-Sequencing a must. Experience with databases a plus. Experience with NSAIDs or circadian biology a plus. Job will involve a high level of interaction with others so good English and strong communication skills a must.
