For people who have biology background are very curious in finding simple text/links related to IT/mathematics/statistics that can help them to understand the basics of technology, not in the detail. So, In context to Bioinformatics -i think the following stuffs always comes in a mind for a new computational biologist: (1)Netwoking concepts (http, tcp/ip, IP add etc, client-server, proxy server etc), (2)Linux OS (File structure, commands, remote login, using linux cluster etc), (3)R (R installation, how to install and use a R package), (4)Statistics (Mean, variance , distributions , density functions etc), (5)Perl & Python (How they are installed, where the modules/libraries get installed etc, Bioperl/Biopython etc), (6)MySQL (how to use it in linux, XAMPP, MySQL dump etc) (7)...and many more.
Please share some basic golden resources/notes/text/links pertaining to above that would be useful assignments for newbies to understand the information technology.
