On behalf of my colleagues in the European Bioinformatic Institute (EBI) training team, they're currently recruiting an e-learning officer.

The job is mainly focussed on the EBI Train Online platform, which provides free and instantly accessible training on general bioinformatics topics, as well as training on specific EBI resources. The job is within the EBI training team, who deliver loads of in-person training both onsite at the EBI and externally, but involves working collaboratively with different people and teams within the EBI (like me!) to create e-learning content. You would be strategically planning online training, coordinating and supporting those creating the material for online training, testing software and courses, dealing with usage statistics and feedback and more.

The team are looking for people with biology/bioinformatics backgrounds, experience teaching/communicating complex science stuff, experience working with not-especially-great-at-communicating experts, and Windows/Mac IT skills. Also desirable would be experience with web stuff, design, Unix, international working environments and bioinformatics resources.

We're just outside Cambridge, which is an amazing place to live and work in science. We're also excellent at getting people visas, so no worries to non-EU people.

Applications are through the online portal. I can answer some, but not all, questions and certainly cannot do anything with your application so don't try to send it to me.
