We are currently recruiting a Postdoctoral scholar in Genetics and Bioinformatics at Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Otolaryngology.
Our laboratory aims at understanding the genetic basis of hearing loss and the physiology/pathologies of the inner ear. To achieve these goals we are using multiple approaches including molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, electronic microscopy, biophysics, genetics, bioinformatics and electrophysiology. More info about the lab can be found at http://grilletlab.stanford.edu. The Otolaryngology Department provides a highly dynamic and collaborative environment fostering scientific breakthroughs. The candidate will perform mRNA expression analysis and genomic analysis to discover genes involved in the physiology and pathology of Hearing. The candidate must have obtained his/her Ph.D. degree recently (less than a year) or being defending soon. The Ph.D. degree must be in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Statistics or Computer Science. The candidate must have acquired a solid publication record and master biostatistical tools for genetic analysis, next-generation sequencing techniques and analysis (at the Transcriptome and Genome levels), large-scale data mining, programming (R, Python) and machine learning algorithms. Experience with dissection, cell culture, molecular biology and complex disease would be a plus. We are expecting high motivation and ability to work independently as well as part of the team. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
