I have pasted a list of proteins or genes into the STRING, and I see a map ! but I am wondering how it is calculated ? because I did not give any value to it so how the edge etc were calculated and based on which information I can relay on it? Is there any alternative database like that ?

@genomax2 They refer to this paper but still vague to me, I don't get it how they calculate based on probability evidence http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15608232 !!!! if the experiments are different how one can use such evidence !! maybe i don't understand it
