A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Kunal Rai's laboratory in the Department of Genomic Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our lab focuses on understanding the function of epigenome in cancer progression. To define chromatin states connected with different stages of cancer progression, we employ cutting-edge epigenomic technologies such as high-throughput ChIP-Sequencing and Hi-C. Additionally, we take functional genomic approaches to identify epigenetic regulators/elements that play important functions in cancer progression. The primary research focus of the fellow will be on applying known and novel computational methods for the analysis of epigenomic datasets and integration with complex high-dimensional omics datasets from tumor samples. We seek a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. in computer science/engineering/statistics/biostatistics/genomics/bioinformatics or a related quantitative field. Must have strong training in statistics and strong programming expertise, in particular R/Python and interest in the application of state-of-the-art computational/statistical methods to complex data. practice in analysis of ChIP-Seq or Hi-C datasets is highly desired. First author publication in a high quality journal is required. A high degree of written and oral communication expertise in English is essential.
The laboratory is situated in a highly dynamic and stimulatory environment for learning. MD Anderson Cancer Center is top rated hospital in cancer care in the United States. The institute offers active graduate and postdoctoral training programs and the unmatched scientific environment of the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest biomedical center.
