The Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) is looking to fill a full time position for a statistical analyst for genomic data under the umbrella of the central analysis group, co-lead by Stephan Ripke, Charité, Berlin, Germany and by Mark Daly, Massachusetts General Hospital and the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, Broad Institute, Cambridge, USA. The person will be located in Berlin, Germany and will be under the supervision of Stephan Ripke, one of the central analysts of the PGC.
We are looking for a highly energetic, reliable and motivated analyst, who wants to participate in one of the most exciting research fields currently with a central position in an highly connected international research endeavor. Relevant qualification demonstrating quantitative analytic abilities are desirable, but no academic degree is essential.
Responsibilities:
- "contract work" for other members within the PGC mostly using the PGC pipeline
- performing all steps of classic GWAS:(QC, imputation, PCA, association analysis, etc.)
- preparing, presenting, sharing results and meta-data
- keeping distinct computer cluster systems synchronized
- installing the pipeline on other computercluster systems
- teaching other analysts, active contributions to forums / wiki-pages
- integrating new features into the pipeline
- attending weekly phone conferences
- preparing and delivering presentations at scientific meetings
- contribution to writing committees for manuscripts.
- we are an international community so flexibility in working times is essential
Essential Qualifications:
- fluent in English (both oral and written)
- strong computer skills with extensive experience in classic unix environment:
- command line usage (incl awk, sed, perl)
- computer cluster farms with job queuing system (qsub, bsub)
- perl / python programming
- usage of computer language R
- experience in genomic studies is not essential, but highly appreciated
Funding is secured by the PGC grant for five years.
Starting date is as soon as possible.
