Hello everbody,

i need to find a possible correlation between a multidimensional porperty A and a one dimensional property B. In particular, i have the following properties:

  • Property A: Sequence of ~10 to ~15 binned methylation ratios within an exon
  • Property B: Length of the exon

My data set contains around 3000 exons, and for each of them, the respective properties A and B are available in a simple tab-delimited file. I wanted to do a scatterplot in order to see if there is some kind of (possibly) positive correlation between these two traits. However, since A is basically multi-dimensional, i am not sure if it is actually possible to do that. My first and so far only idea was to calculate the average over all bins to get a one-dimensional representation, which then could be easily used for my purpose, but that actually sounds too good to be true.

Is there any kind of "official way" to do that or is my plan actually not as wrong as i think?

Best regards to everybody
