We have an exceptional Postdoctoral position in our Global Translational modeling & Simulation Group based in North Chicago, IL.
A large body of cellular and molecular biology data is generated to provide clues to the causal mechanisms driving disease and patients variability in response to therapy. The challenge is to systematically translate these data to inform the key decision in drug discovery and development. Integration of these cellular and molecular profiling data into predictive mathematical systems biology and pharmacology models holds promise to provide a quantitative predictive understanding for cause of disease, value of novel therapies, resistance mechanism of action, and the signature biomarker patterns to identify these subpopulations and predict patient response.
The project’s aim is to develop a mathematical in silico modeling platform that integrates AbbVie’s disease model with cellular and molecular profiling data sets from relevant in vitro and in vivo cancer models, quantitative physiological changes occurring at the cell and tissue level, and link that to efficacy/response profiles from clinical trials.
Key responsibilities include:
Conduct the bioinformatics analysis on the cellular and molecular biology data to connect to the disease model. Incorporate literature based disease-related biological studies to inform parameterization of the functional variations at the cellular and tissue level. Establish quantitative system’s pharmacology/biology models for various therapeutic targets in oncology Evaluate patient selection biomarker based on the established disease model. Identify and evaluate efficacy biomarker and resistance mechanism based on the established disease model. This effort will build a bridge between systems biology (SB) and systems pharmacology for various cancer indications. The fellow will be exposed to systems pharmacology and systems biology approaches as well as statistical genetics, genomics, and proteomics, thereby bridging these fields in a pharmaceutical industry setting.
