Postdoctoral Position
The Systems Genomics Laboratory in the Department of Information Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) is seeking an applicant with a PhD degree to fill a postdoctoral position. The Systems Genomics Laboratory (SGL) at the UALR MidSouth Bioinformatics Center addresses the big-data genomics and precision medicine research problems by developing and implementing novel computational and statistical approaches. SGL conducts research to integrate multi-layer genomic and large-scale biomedical data at systems biology level for revealing disease mechanisms. We develop synergistic computing and integrative genomics approaches with a particular focus on novel intelligent computing and statistical models to identify disease-causal mutations, disturbed pathways as well as effective drug targets. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
The successful candidate for the position will participate in large-scale next generation sequencing data analysis and develop computational methodologies and statistical models for multi-layer data integration. He/she will involve in project progress report and manuscript preparation. Applicants must have a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, information science, or related discipline. Desirable skills include programming in at least one language (Perl, Python, Java or C++) and experience in machine learning and statistical models for genomic data analysis. Experience in R/Bioconductor is a plus. Preference will be given to a highly motivated individual with good communication skills.
Applications should be submitted online at https://ualr.peopleadmin.com/postings/5443 and include the following:
- A letter of application indicating the candidate's qualifications
- Curriculum vitae (with list of publications)
- Names and contact information of three references
Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the position is filled.
