Hello all,
I'm currently studying to get my BHSc in Bioinformatics. However, lately I'm discovering from a few MSc graduates in the field of biology that it is not a very good degree to pursue as the career prospects are very bad. Is this true? I was really looking forward to become a scientist, but if I have to struggle to do research and get good pay to not only support my family but also pay off my student debt, it doesn't seem like a viable option.
You all seem to be pretty knowledgeable in this area. I would appreciate any feedback you might have on this matter to help me make an informed decision. Thank you kindly.
So why do you think all the people in this forum do Bioinformatics? and what is the downside of being a Bioinformation from your or your friends point of view ?

Thank you for that info. That statistics looks promising.
This will obviously depend on which country you aim to work in.
I'm getting my degree in Canada, but I would like to get my MSc in Europe and hopefully work there as well. Are there good opportunities there in this field?
