Hi,

Has gene body methylation effect on its expression? As i know GpG Islands, Shores and regions such as these have great effect on gene expression.

So does it means that methylation can cause not only negative effect but also positive effect?

Correct, promoter methylation will generally decrease expression while gene body methylation will generally increase it.

does not it also refer to if the methylation is hyper or hypo? based on that the expression of the gene is more or less active or repressed?

In this context, "methylation" will always be "hypermethylation".
