I am wondering how to get the GI number of the proteins flanking a protein of interest based on a certain range.

For example I have a GI number, SFC05498, and I want to get all of the other proteins that are located 30kb on either side of this protein.

Cheers

SFC05498 doesn't look like a NCBI gi ( gis are deprecated by the way)

my bad I guess the correct question would be from accession numbers? I was also wondering what would I do for accession numbers with multiple nucleotide entries ex. non redundant protein sequences.

Seems like your example GI number belongs to EMBL id. EBI id map tool
