One graduate student position with Teaching Assistantship is immediately available in the Department of Biology with a specialization in bioinformatics at the University of South Dakota (USD). This position needs start from Spring semester 2018.
The research project for this position is to develop computational pipelines/algorithms for integrative analysis of multiple cancer omics data. Graduate students will be enrolled in the PhD program in biology with a specialization in bioinformatics. Recently, the South Dakota Board of Regents has approved this new bioinformatics academic program (http://news.sd.gov/newsitem.aspx?id=22115). Courses will focus on biology, as well as mathematics, statistics, and computer science (http://catalog.usd.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=23&poid=3538), enabling doctoral students to collaborate on high-level research projects. Students enrolled will be trained in a multidisciplinary environment and has opportunity to collaborate with biologists and computer scientists. Specialization in bioinformatics within the biology PhD program will appear on a student's transcript.
