We are recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral fellow with a solid background in computational science to work in the new research institute of the Fondazione Pisana per la Scienza (FPS). You will join a multidisciplinary team of leading experts in clinical genomics, proteomics and cancer pathology and have access to state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The position is a unique opportunity to work on the analysis of next-generation genomics and proteomics data, as part of a multidisciplinary team investigating selected pathologies at the molecular level. The successful candidate will contribute to develop and apply computational methods to investigate cell state/activity alterations correlated to pathophysiological conditions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics and data analysis. Prior experience with proteomics and/or NGS data is essential. Applicants must also have a specific interest in biology. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to be part of an international multidisciplinary team, and the ability to communicate results clearly are highly desirable. We seek individuals with expertise in biostatistics, state-of-the-art data mining, and/or computational modeling to address fundamental aspects of cell biology such as:

  • mechanisms that regulate cell behavior, proliferation, differentiation, potency and reprogramming;
  • mechanisms that underlie neuronal plasticity in response to stress or environmental change.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, computational/systems biology or related fields. Candidates should be highly independent, have a documented and strong track record in bioinformatics and computational tools to tackle biomedical research problems and a creative problem solving ability in identifying useful information in complex datasets.

We offer a renewable two-year contract with a salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Applications must be sent by e-mail to personale@fpscience.it

We assure strict confidentiality. Please send a CV, cover letter and the contact details of three scientists who can provide references

FPS is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
