Hi all,
I'm an independent scholar with a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, currently putting together a study on the genetics of personality. It is different from the studies that are currently published, and involves categorical data rather than continuous data.
I have very little background in bioinformatics, except for a few Coursera courses and reading some papers on GWAS and patterns of human genetic variations, but enough to understand the big picture. I'm gearing up to collect data in the new year, but would very much like to bounce some ideas off of someone to get a better idea of where I'm headed analysis-wise (and in case some of the later analysis requires some decisions made up front during the data collection, ie any extra variables to collect, how data should be stored for downstream analysis, etc). Once data collection is complete at the end of next year, I'll likely either be hiring or collaborating with someone for the analysis part.
This project is currently unfunded, but I can pay a small stipend to whomever is interested in discussing this project with me (by email or Skype/phone). This job would be ideal for a computationally-savvy MSc or PhD student with an interest in behavioral genetics or population genetics. Ideally someone who is equally at ease with GWAS and cluster analysis/principal component analysis because these are the two types of analysis schemes I am trying to decide between.
Interested candidates should email me at personalitygenes[at]gmail.com with a short blurb explaining their background, their hourly rate and why they would be interested in helping me out with this project.
Looking forward to hearing from interested candidates.
