ENST with a period-- significance?

I've done my due diligence in googling this, but I can't find to find an explanation on ensembl's site. What is the meaning of the number after period in a transcript id? I assume this is a splice variant coding for the same gene? ENST00000294728.2, for instance.

WouterDeCoster is correct, this is a version number of the Ensembl ID. It will change when the information for that feature changes (i.e. new evidence is incorporated into Ensembl). If you're interested in seeing when the data changed you can use the ID history converter - this will show you the ID and the Ensembl release in which it changed, with links to the archive sites (if these are still live).

It's a version number of the stable identifier.

So, basically they have the same stable identifier and they differ by version only. Therefore... ENST00000294728.2, ENST00000294728.3, ENST00000294728.4 are just different versions of the same transcript. Am I correct in saying this?

Yes, and the version number of a transcript is changed when:

Transcripts: increments when there is a change in a transcript's splicing pattern, chromsome location or a sequence change in the cDNA
