I am using the DAVID tool to perform functional annotation of a group of genes of my interest. I have included UNIGENE_EST_QUARTILE as one of terms sources used in my analysis. Among the significant terms reported for my genes by DAVID are UNIGENE_EST_QUARTILE terms such as brain_normal_3rd, eye_normal_3rd, embryo_development_3rd which are quite intuitive (the genes are expected to be expressed in brain, eye and during embryo development, respectively). But there is one term which is not at all intuitive for me: normal_disease_3rd. I have tried to figure out its meaning by analyzing UniGene EST profiles of genes that have this term assigned by DAVID and those that don't. But I cannot find any convincing pattern. I wonder if anybody knows what the term normal_disease_3rd is supposed to tell me about the expression pattern of my genes? Thanks.
