A new release of BioVM is now available for download.
BioVM is a virtual machine based on Ubuntu Linux with pre-configured software for Bioinformatics.
Source code is available on Github under the GPL license.
What's new in the 18.04 release
Latest bioinformatics software
Conda is now used to install most bioinformatics software. An environment called as bioenv is setup with the latest available versions of bedtools, blast, bowtie2, bwa, clustalo, cutadapt, fastqc, fastx_toolkit, mummer, muscle, primer3, samtools and trimmomatic. (complete list of software)
Updated Galaxy configuration
Galaxy's configuration has been updated to support Docker. Simple commands for management (start-galaxy, stop-galaxy and restart-galaxy) have been added. (more information)
