Identifying an unknown motif

Hi all,

New bioinformatics student here looking for some insight;

Basically I have used a PAC BIO SMRT system to do some sequencing on my study organism, specifically to look at its "methylome." The data is showing a "mystery motif" that is associated with a modified guanine.

The only two things Ive been able to find in the literature are:

Oxidative stress 8-oxo-guanine

or...

Phosphothioration, Sulphur backbone that replace the double bonded oxygen

Unfortunately, all I can think of to go on, is my high IPD ratio and the fact that MEME pulled an associated motif, GMGGTAMYD,(G[AC]GGTA[AC][CT][AGT]). Unfortunately, SMRT ipd ratios and an unknown motif aren't enough to get me to the identity of the base modification.

If anyone has looked into epigenetics of prokaryotes, and has any idea what this mystery guanine signal could be, I'd love to hear you POV.

Thanks,

Therealtotodile
