Bio/Informatician m/f (E13, TV-L)

Unit for Hematological Diagnostics, Campus Kiel

University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein at the famous port city of Kiel, northern Germany.

We are looking for one bio/informatician to join us, at the earliest possible opportunity

The Unit includes a young international multidisciplinary team of medical doctors, biologists and bioinformaticians, with many national and international collaborations. We do routine molecular genetic diagnostics for hematological malignancies and reference diagnostics for clinical trials. We also work on many exciting research projects in the field.

You will be joining the bioinformatics team of Nikos Darzentas [bat.infspire.org]who are mainly busy with the analysis of sequences of antigen receptors of B and T cells, in leukemias and lymphomas, in humans and animals. The young interdisciplinary team is currently spread across Kiel and Brno, in Czechia.

Your focus will be the ARResT toolbox [arrest.tools] and mainly ARResT/Interrogate ('Interrogate'), the immunoprofiling platform designed and developed within the EuroClonality-NGS Consortium [euroclonalityngs.org]. You will also have the opportunity to travel to partner labs and to meetings of the Consortium, held across Europe.

We need your help with:

  • Interrogate development - we already have a long list of tasks that would greatly improve Interrogate step-by-step.
  • Interrogate analyses & projects: coordination, troubleshooting, (basic) analysis, data/results management, reporting.
  • Interrogate deployment (on our servers and as a package) and maintenance (updates and storage management).
  • Interrogate documentation / tutorials.

Candidates of any level of education and experience are invited to apply. Skills in scripting languages (R, Python / Perl) are essential - we are developing heavily in R, Shiny, Javascript, and Perl. Very good spoken and written English are also necessary. Experience in biology and medicine (esp. immunity) as well as first-author publications will be considered a plus.

We offer:

Above all, even your skillset, we are looking for an open scientific mind with a healthy motivation to proactively become part of our many diverse activities (e.g. check out GLASS: bat.infspire.org/genomepd/glass).

The position, with flexible hours and in an informal working atmosphere, is available from September and until the end of 2019 - arrangements are flexible, also based on your qualifications.

The application deadline is 13.09.2018
