Thank you to everybody who contributed to our survey back in April. After months of analysing the results and discussing with NCBI, we're excited to announce plans for our MANE (Matched Annotation between NCBI and EBI) transcript. We are still keen to get further feedback on this, so let us know what you think.
This will certainly help simplify some of the confusion. Would both ID's be included in fasta files that will be eventually provided?
I'm not sure we've discussed that, but I will make sure the relevant people see that suggestion.
Probably be useful to get the protein translations as well. I assume these will become defaults for VEP and other mutation consequence tools eventually.
I think there's a lot of discussion and consultation still to be had about the advantages of highlighting MANE in something like VEP results with the option to only display MANE, versus displaying only MANE as a default with the option to display all. My personal current feeling is to default to display all and highlight, with the option of viewing only MANE. Display options are not top priority right now, however, we're focussing more on if we're picking the right transcripts.
