Hello, I came across a paper by Trang et. al. (2018) titled STatistical Inference Relief (STIR) feature selection, and I was wondering the communities experience using this tool. I see that it has the ability to detect gene interactions in RNA-seq data and that the author's provided a brief discussion of their own analysis, but does anyone else have any 'stories' about how this worked out in their specific research? I'm going to run it on some data I have obtained, but I'm still trying to fully understand how it works and how I want to apply it before I start playing around.

Thank you for your response(s)!

Dane.

To add, this utilizes relief-based algorithms to detect nearest neighbors in order to find gene interactions. It's a really interesting concept when trying to understand gene interactions for RNA-Seq data or SNP associations in GWAS.
