Hi All Dear,

I found a lot of LOC in the Buffalo Genome. Like, LOC102402636, LOC102402651, LOC102402839 and ...

But I do not know which this locuses are related to what gene. Or, what is their gene synonym?

To find a synonym gene for each of them, what is the best suggestion?

Best Regard

I am not being original here, but neither are you ( Question about gens name starting "LOC~" , What is the definition of LOC# identifier? ). See the conventions section of the NCBI Book Gene Frequently Asked Questions:

Symbols beginning with LOC.

When a published symbol is not available, and orthologs have not yet been determined, Gene will provide a symbol that is constructed as 'LOC' + the GeneID. This is not retained when a replacement symbol has been identified, although queries by the LOC term are still supported. In other words, a record with the symbol LOC12345 is equivalent to GeneID = 12345. So if the symbol changes, the record can still be retrieved on the web using LOC12345 as a query, or from any file using GeneID = 12345.

That's sort of the easy way, but as jrj, healey wrote above you can always blast them and draw conclusions based on the results.
