I got this question saying that a mouse mutant that has spotted skin is due to the single recessive gene. The gene expression is suppressed in the mutant and sequence analysis didn't reveal any differences in DNA sequences from those of the wild-type mouses. Is it possible the disease is simply due to the suppression of gene and any form of genetic formation doesn't have anything to do with that?
