What is the "-201", "-202", "-203", etc. suffix in Ensembl transcript names?

I can't seem to figure out what the -201 ending for many transcript names seems to signify. Can someone point to where this is defined?

Thanks!

Can you give us an example?

EDIT: I see what you're talking about - the names for BRCA2 transcripts are in the format BRCA2-2XX. I'm guessing that's just convention, but maybe someone from Ensembl can give you a better answer.

It means nothing. The numbers are just added incrementally when new transcripts get added, starting at 201, which is why so many genes have 201.
