Three Principal Investigator Positions in Neurogenomics or Neuroscience, with a focus on bioinformatics

The VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology (Belgium) is searching for three Principal Investigators to join their faculty. Current research groups at the center address a broad set of questions related to neurodegenerative brain diseases and peripheral neuropathies, with an emphasis on understanding the genetic etiology and developing diagnostics and treatment methods for these diseases. Approaches range from human genetics and genomics to protein biochemistry and neuronal cell biology, while models include yeast, fly, mouse and pluripotent human cell systems. These positions come with full salary and core funding for five years (internationally competitive > 1 million EUR package depending on experience) that is renewable for multiple additional 5-year periods. Research groups in the center also have access to state-of-the-art research and top-notch support core facilities, and attract talented PhD students and postdocs from across the world.

We now seek 3 Principal Investigators at the junior to senior level to join our ranks and establish new independent research groups.

We look for candidates that have research plans and a scientific vision that complements those of the faculty at the center, creating synergies and opportunities for collaboration. As part of a major investment at VIB-UAntwerp to address new challenges in the area of genomics, bioinformatics and individualized medicine, we are particularly seeking candidates who have a primary interest in neurodegenerative disorders with expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics approaches. Candidates with a track record of important contributions to the field of neuroscience with a focus on disease modeling using animal models and induced pluripotent stem cells, development of diagnostics or drug discovery are also encouraged to apply.
