Hi, I'm looking for a project in Bioinformatics that I can do on my own using data available online. I've been looking for an internship for the same but I didn't get any. So, I think the project would be really helpful to learn something new, demonstrate my interest and enhance my CV as well. I graduated last year with a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, so I have a fair understanding of Genomics and basics like NGS data. I have some experience in R and Python. In R, I know how to do sequence alignment, finding ORF, phylogenetic trees, GWAS and eQTL analysis, exploring the diversity of T-cell repertoire using TcR package, etc. I also have some experience in Machine Learning. Please help!
Get a supervisor and define a research question together. The field is too extensive as if you could manage an independent project on your own that is 1) suited for you skill set, 2) not extensively published yet, 3) doable within a reasonable timeframe. There are many related questions on that here on Biostars, please use the search function and check the column on the right of this page for related threads.

Thank you so much. I'll get into that.
Hi ! If you are in India, Join biostar slack and ping me. I might be able to help you @ phoenix.sum13
Hi there, Thank you so much, that will be really helpful. I joined Slack, it's asking me for your email to send the invitation. Or Here's a link https://join.slack.com/t/panjabuniversity/shared_invite/zt-clkoywjk-lf6aUTyJLJmxbEiZj_PHGA

Oh, thank you so much.
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your reply. I did learn how to construct a variant calling pipeline using cancer exome sequences. I'm actually interested in Bioinformatics and I wish to go for MS in this subject. My profile doesn't look good because of my low GPA as I wasn't really interested in Life Science in general, but Bioinformatics changed that for me somehow. There aren't many internship opportunities in India for a recent graduate. Most of the applications I see require MS here or must be enrolled in a University. So far everything I have learned is from the internet, and I want to learn more. So, I wish to do a project to demonstrate my interest in this field.
Thank you for your response. Apologies for a repetitive question, I'm new here, I'll search as you suggest.
