hello guys,

If i define a list of genes by applying some machine learning or any regularization methods, if we say i get 200 genes. From those 200 genes, i find 50 genes existed in the literature, or even by applying cross validation and define that those genes are significant, what about the others and how i can validate them or considered them as new genes in my study ? So my main question is how to define newly discovered genes from my this list or how to judge that these genes are new genes obtained in my study? Do i need any statistical tests or any method ??

I appreciate any help please!

That really can only be done by experimental methods.Sounds like you have tried to find evidence for them by blast and failed to find homologs?

@genomax hi genomax, can you give me more details please, experimental methods like what ? !, no i didnt apply blast how it can be applied in this issue it can be?

Like doing RNAseq, RACE assays, cDNA libraries etc. These are all experimental techniques. You can only go so far with predictions/informatics approaches in hypothesis generation. Those hypothesis then have to be tested independently in lab.
