Hello,

is there some reference to the EBV decoy (I think that is the official name) aka chrEBV present in the human assembly GChr38 (and previous)? why and where was it introduced? by whom?

On PubMed I got

your search for chrEBV retrieved no results

Same thing for EBV decoy.

Thank you

I don't use PubMed for searching. Any other search engine is better. For searching for papers within PubMed, just use the ncbi keyword first in your search string.

In this case, it is true. There was much more on Google than PubMed...

This is something you could have easily found by doing a simple search. Here is the first result.

From GATK:

The GRCh38 analysis sets also include a contig to siphon off reads corresponding to the Epstein-Barr virus sequence as well as decoy contigs. The EBV contig can help correct for artifacts stemming from immortalization of human blood lymphocytes with EBV transformation, as well as capture endogenous EBV sequence as EBV naturally infects B cells in ~90% of the world population. Heng Li provides the decoy contigs.
