Intern – Computational Biology

RAPT Therapeutics is a biotechnology company located in South San Francisco CA, focused on the discovery and development of novel drugs that will improve and prolong the lives of people with cancer and inflammation.

Position Summary

  • For this Computational Biology Intern position, you will be supporting our immune-oncology and inflammation project efforts by curating and processing publicly available clinical datasets
  • You will be working with our Computation Biology team, under guidance of a Computational Scientist
  • Internship duration is 4 months, with a time commitment of 24 – 32 hours/week
  • This is paid intern position with compensation commensurate with market rates
  • This position is open to candidates located anywhere in the US who are eligible to work in the United States
  • Due to the on-going COVID19 pandemic, this position will be almost-entirely/entirely remote

Responsibilities

  • Download clinical datasets from NCBI GEO, dbGAP
  • Document clinical study design, data platforms, and data analysis pipelines
  • Consolidate annotations, perform quality control & batch normalization across datasets
  • Time permitting, create a R Shiny tool for interactive data access

Education and Skills Requirements

  • Pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Computer science, or related field
  • A basic understanding of molecular genetics and/or human genetics and a working knowledge of RNA seq are required
  • Programming experience in R, Python, Perl or similar are strongly recommended
