Ph.D. in Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, Biological Sciences, Genetics, Computer Science, Statistics or related field
Minimum number of years and relevant work experience
Previous postdoctoral experience in the area of computational genomics or statistical genetics is preferred. Exceptional new Ph.D. graduates will also be considered.
Position Description
The Schrodi lab is dynamic, innovative laboratory focused on the development of new statistical and computational methods for analyzing genomic data and implementing these methods to discover novel disease-susceptibility regions. The laboratory is newly developed and located within the Department of Medical Genetics within the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct computational and statistical studies on the genomics related human disease. The selected candidate will have their choice of either concentrating on 1) theoretical disease genetics models and the development of novel statistical genetics methods or 2) detailed analyses of large-scale genomic data related to inflammatory and metabolic diseases. The successful candidate will interact closely with the Principal Investigator and other members of the lab to play a critically important role in studies.
Position Requirements
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will have expertise in computational genomics methods and approaches, current bioinformatics methods, strong programming skills in R or other scientific programming language and highly conversant in the Linux operating system. A strong publication record is required.
