strange looking bcftools norm file

Hi all,

This might be a basic question and I know it probably doesn't affect anything but I would like to ask:

If you do bcftools normon a file which hasn't returned any indels or variants, is it normal for that file to come back with symbols and chinese characters?

I know that doing bcftools norm on a file like this is probably useless, but I just wanted to ask,

Looks like you may have a compressed file. What does file your_file say?

Hi,

When i do that it says: exon13_combined_norm.bcf: Binary Call Format (BCF) version 2.2

See bcftools view (LINK) to operate on the file.
