Hi everyone! I have a question, I'm new in the metagenomic world and I was searching for softwares for assembling genes from metagenomic samples; I found several, BUT... there is some of them compatible with windows??? Thanks a lot for your answers.... bye!

The short answer is that probably very few if any such tools exists. Metagenomics assembly is a very complex problem and as such it is in quite early stages of research and development.

Thanks Istvan, i was trying with some... but, I think that is time for a change... and you are right, metagenomics assembly is complex but very interesting... best regards!

The only one solution I know (as you pointed before, almost all developments are in Linux and other *nix systems for good reasons) is the CLCbio that supports Windows OS and isn't cheap -> http://www.clcbio.com/index.php?id=930

your welcome. You can also try the "cloud" systems like MG-rast to avoid installations -> http://metagenomics.anl.gov/

MG-RAST is only an analysis tool. No metagenomic assembly there. MG-RAST will accept assembled data.
